"Gong Xi Fa Cai" LO

Gong Xi Fa Cai in Mandarin or Happy Chinese New Year in English is the title of my newly created layout for these (5) challenges:

1.  Colorful Creations' Scrap With Scraps Challenge by Kerys Sharrock;
2.  XOXO Scraplifting Challenge #19;
3.  Sketches4All Fruit Challenge by Nicolle Kramer; and
4.  Sketches4All June Butterflies Challenge by Khristen Foss
5.  Kaboodle Doodles Challenge #72: Food and/or Drink.

For XOXO's scraplifting challenge, I chose to scraplift Alaina's LO - Ten Reasons, shown below:

Alaina's Inspiration Layout
I just added handmade flowers created from fabric scraps my mom has stock of waiting for a right occasion to be of use.  And so I grabbed an inch long swatch to form a flower.  Viola, an entry to Colorful Creations' Scrap With Scraps Challenge!!

For the Sketches 4 All Challenge,  I made use of strawberry paper by Cosmo Cricket fussy cut for the Fruit Challenge and there are 6 butterflies on the bottom border strip for the Butterflies Challenge.  Ta dah!!

My Layout

I know Chinese New Year is celebrated every February but I just couldn't help but scrap a past photo taken on the said occasion . . .

"FAMILY" LO

I never thought I would be able to scrap this photo of mine.  What great inspiration and motivation it was for me to combine XOXO's Scraplifting Challenge #19 and Colorful Creations June Summertime Blog Challenge sponsored by Karen's Doodles.

I chose Lipstick Chick Kimmy's LO: SO FULL OF WONDER to scraplift at XOXO's Challenge #19.  Here's her inspiration layout:

Kimmy's Inspiration Layout

With the inspiration sketch selected, I only need to comply with the Colorful Creation's summertime challenge requirements . . .  I had clouds, blings (at the end of the kite) and a stamped floral image incorporated on my layout.  Here's my entry to the (2) challenges:

My Layout
Thanks Lipstick Chick Kimmy & DT Rochelle for the challenges and inspiration!!

"Baju Kurung" LO

I still have lots of past family photos to scrap and what a great source of inspiration when I viewed XOXO's Scraplifting Challenge #19.  I chose Khristen's LO: "Best Present Ever" to case and my family photo taken on our 1st trip out of the country as a family was perfect for it.

Khristen's Inspiration Layout

"Baju Kurung" is a Malay term for the ladies costume in Malaysia.  My mom bought and wore one during our trip.  And so, the souvenir family photo with her wearing the "Baju Kurung".  Here's my layout:

My Layout
SUPPLIES: Papers: Cosmo Cricket, Thickers: American Craft, Foam Alpha Stickers: All About Scrapbooking, Flowers: Prima, Crystals: Prima, Ink: All About Scrapbooking, TOOLS: Decorative Scissors: Paper Shapers.

NOTES: I eliminated the journaling spot and the need for embellies on the top right-hand side (per the inspiration LO).  I went for simple but elegant for this one.

Thanks, Lipstick Chick Khristen!!  That's (1) less photo to scrap. =)

Happy "Plain Yogart Day"!!

June 20th is Plain Yogart Day according to a website Paula Jennings, Guest DT of Colorful Creations shared.  I chose this wacky holiday to depict on my LO for 2 challenges at different sites:  1) at Colorful Creations June Wacky Holiday Challenge, and 2) For the Love of Sketches 3rd week of June sketch challenge.

I had been indulging in yoghurt fare (or shall I call it a treat?) starting this year 2011 at most once every week.  In fact, I've been a regular patron of Yoh-gurt Froz' fro-yo.  I no longer feel guilty about it being a healthy dessert - fat free and no calorie Fro-yo.  So here's my LO using For the Love of Sketches sketch:

SUPPLIES:  Papers: Nikki Sivils, Foam Alphabet Stickers: All About Scrapbooking, Cut-outs: Nikki Sivils, Photo Corners: Nikki Sivils, Journaling Pen: Parker, Ink: All About Scrapbooking, Sketch: Donna Coughlin of "For the Love of Sketches".

NOTES:  I rotated the sketch to fit my photos in. =)

Inspiration Sketch

So to everyone out there being today is June 20th, A HAPPY PLAIN YOGART DAY!!

Happy Birthday to our National Hero & Belated Philippine Independence Day

I know were celebrating 2 holidays today (June 19):  Father's Day & the Filipinos National Hero's Birthday - Dr. Jose Rizal.  Since I've had dedicated a number of postings in advance to Father's Day,  let me dedicate this post to Dr. Jose Rizal's Birthday and our Philippine Independence Day last June 12.

For this 2 occasions, I would like to share previously created LOs and a card that is apt for the 2 national holidays:

TITLE: PHILIPPINE CENTENNIAL YEAR

SUPPLIES:  Paper: GCD Studios' Elegant Floral Collection, 3D Border Sticker: Forever In Time Scrapbook Collection, Tropical Flowers: Prima Marketing, Inc., Lace Paper for matting the photo: All About Scrapbooking, Others: White Cardstock for the title, Specialty Papers for journaling matting, computer-printed title, Pen: Parker, Sketch: Inspired Blueprints.

NOTES: In year 2000 being the Philippine Centennial Year,  government employees were requested to go on a centennial leave to visit historical sites in our country to commemorate the said event.  We were to report back to our office after and submit a photo of ourselves at the historical site as proof.  Our officemates and I had a grand time visiting Intramuros and the statue of our national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, at the Luneta Park.

JOURNALING:  statue of our national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, at the Light and Sound at the Luneta Park

8 LOs featured at Nikki Sivils Blog: Showcase on You!

I'm esctatic to know that a total of (8) LOs of mine are included in a "Showcase On You!" feature by Julie Tucker-Wolek at Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker blog dtd June 18, 2011 on US timezone.

The feature includes (4) Wedding LOs, (1) vacation LO & (3) Christmas LOs of mine being the remaining creations I've made using Nikki Sivils products or materials.  I guess Julie has drained or scraped the last Nikki Sivils creation I have made.  This is aside from the (2) LOs which was previously featured on the same "Showcase On You!" spot by Julie last month of May 2011.  I'm just too glad that even the simpler LOs I have created made the cut.

I have yet to continue creating more from Nikki Sivils products to share still to everyone. {sigh}.  Here's hoping for more inspiration.

Thanks again Julie!!  Hoping for more to come in the future with Nikki Sivils. ;-)

2011 Easter Sunday LO

Armed with clouds on my LO & 3D embellies plus 3D sentiment.  However, the nearest I could get to a balloon is a kite sticker on the side.  With all these plus the color combinations, I'm submitting my 2011 Easter Sunday LO to Screen 2 Scrap! - June Inspiration Challenge.  It's my 1st challenge with them. {crossing my fingers for good luck!}

TITLE: 2011 EASTER SUNDAY - A Perfect Day
SUPPLIES:  Paper:  Scenic Route , Patterned paper: Nikki Sivils, Border Strips: Nikki Sivils, Tree Cut-out: Nikki Sivils, Stickers: Nikki Sivils, Frame Handmade Cut-out: Paper from Nikki Sivils, Paper Buttons & Thread: Nikki Sivils, Journaling Pen: Parker TOOLS: Punch: Fiskars.

Gourmet on Christmas LO

I know it's a bit early to be posting Christmas LOs but this is my only chance to get those family photos scrapped.  And bests to have inspirational sketches to follow.

As soon as I saw the sketch by Colorful Creations and of Sketchabilities, I found my photos very apt for an LO.  However since I'm joining in a (1) day Sketch-a-thon forgive me if this LO was done hurriedly.  Proudly I'd say . . . but it was done to the best of my ability. ;-)

For the Sketchabilities sketch, I differed by making use of only 2 bigger photos instead of 3 smaller photos. I relied on the background paper's design eliminating the need to furnish the page with a lot of embellishments.  I do wish I could post the Sketchabilities' sketch here for visual aid.  As for the Colorful Creations sketch,  I rotated their sketch by 90 degrees and again made use of 2 bigger photos instead of 3 3r photos.  I then applied fussy cutting and inserted my photos underneath for a more natural effect . . . .

SUPPLIES:  Paper: Winter Wonderland - Creative Imaginations, KYT Manufacturing & Marketing, Inc., Border Strip:  Holly Jolly - My Mind’s Eye, Journaling Pen: Parker.

Punta Fuego Loved Memory LO

As a young girl, I loved summertime.  It's the time when we get to rest and go on a much needed vacation. . . away from pressures and stress, may it be school work or office work or house work.

As I grew older, I tend to love the cooler months.  But still yearns to be able to play and have fun under the sun except for the thought of too much sun exposure, no more slim body figure to boast off and over-fatigued fast being under the sun.  Will just look back at those wonderful summer days.

Here's an LO on a much recent summer vacation with the family . . . this time too content on staying indoors, walking along covered paths and taking rides instead of walking under the sun:

SUPPLIES: Die Cut Paper: GCD Studios from Pin Drop Canta Collection, Blue Neon Paper: Advance Paper Corp.,  Die Cut Chipboard: GCD Studios, Orange Glitter Letter Stickers: GCD Studios, Inc., Sketches:  For the Love of Sketches, Colorful Creations.

JOURNALING:  2008 Birthday Celebration (Jill & Me) in Batangas.  An overnight stay with a photo-op golf carting.  As they say, "The family that plays together, stays together".

NOTES:  I've made use of the color blue from the inspiration ad from For the Love of Sketches.  I hope I could post the sketch from For the Love of Sketches here for visual aid.

An Origami Daddy's Card

This is the 3rd or last Father's Day Creation I made.  This one, I'm giving to my dad on Father's Day, 5 days from now though I still have to write a dedication at the back of the card.

I have been a fan of Origami when I was a child (and so I thought I was).  In fact, I had an Origami booklet kit which I used to play with before.  I thought I have grown away from Origami only to find out that it's good also in my newly found hobby which is scrapbooking.  So, here I am with an Origami Shirt & Tie creation for my Dad:

This is my 2nd Father's Day Creation for the upcoming occasion.  I really don't call it a Father's Day Card but I consider it as a MASCULINE CARD.  Thus, also the corresponding choice of challenges entered into . . .

Though the quote applies not only to men but is considered universal but my choice of pattern paper colors makes it masculine. ;-)

2010 Pre-Christmas Break LO for Sketchy Thursday 6.9 Challenge

I'm so glad to have discovered Sketchy Thursday.  This is my 1st Sketch Challenge with them. . .

I have been keeping in my photo box various newly re-developed family photos taken since I was a kid.  My current project is to scrap all our family photos since way back.  I have been looking at my photo box again and again with the intent of scrapping the Nov 2010 vacation photo.  They were 3 family photos taken on that occasion and I just couldn't get a chance to put them on an LO.  When I looked at Sketchy Thursday 6.9 Sketch Challenge, it was a coincidence that the sketch just matches the said photos I wanted to scrap and I had the needed papers to deal with for an LO.

I have to confess Christmas is my favorite event every year.  In fact, we decorate our house as early as October to feel the merry Christmas spirit.  Thus, it was with gladness that I scrap these photos . . .

TITLE: 2010 Pre-Christmas Break

SUPPLIES:  Papers: Nikki Sivils,  Scrap That!, Cut-outs: Nikki Sivils, Journaling Tag: Nikki Sivils, Border Strip: Nikki Sivils, Journaling Pen: Parker, Other: Scalloped Die Cut Square Paper.

I guess all of the materials used except for (1) paper are from Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker.  Just love 'em!!  In fact, I have 2 or was it 3 other Christmas LOs with Nikki Sivils materials but of no photos except for memorabilla.

JOURNALING:  With Christmas brewing, we trooped to Tagaytay for a Pre-Christmas Break:  We stayed at the Development Academy of the Philippines; prayed at Tierra de Maria; & had dinner at the restaurant at Boutique.

Inspiration Sketch
I just can't wait for this year's Christmas Season!! =)
