"Waiting for the Perfect Man" Inspired LO

Still on Valentine's,  the next LO I've created is for Colorful Creations' Challenge with a theme of "My Funny Valentine" - a funny valentine's day page needed.  For this, the idea for my LO was inspired by a drawing that spread over e-mails entitled, "Waiting for the Perfect Man" (also posted here).  For the page layout, my creation was inspired by an LO found at CK gallery (page also posted here).  Here's my creation:

Yuppie Karikatyur LO for Colorful Creations & Creative Creations Challenges

I have to admit it's hard to make or add a lot of journaling on a page.  I prepared myself by checking my emotions on doing this page for the 2 challenges: Colorful Creations' Guest Designer Sketch Challenge - Belinda Spencer & Angela Randall's Bright Challenge for Creative Creations.

For Colorful Creations: I followed the sketch provided (shown below). For Creative Creations, I complied with the 5 requirements of: 1) I made use of bright colors, 2) it's a layout, 3) i have little butterflies & a flower, 4) i have a ribbon & 5) i made use of polka-dotted pattern paper.

Colorful Creations' Gallery Pick

I'd say it was a wonderful morning earlier as I logged in at Colorful Creations.  My layout, entitled, "HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR & HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY" was chosen as GALLERY PICK OF THE WEEK for the week ending Feb. 14, 2011.  I was no longer expecting to make it for the 2nd time since I joined last Sept 2010.  It was a great moral booster.  I've managed to take a screenshot of the site:

Happy Chinese New Year (2011 Year of the Metallic Rabbit)

"Kung Hei Fat Choi!!"

For the Chinese New Year, we didn't have a grand celebration.  It was enough for me to have the "sticky cake" at home.  But my mom and young sis decided to bring the family to a new place in the city - where the new developments are: McKinley Hill in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.  To capture the scene, I've created 2 layouts on the area.  The 1st page, I entered into Colorful Creations' Monday Mixers Challenge.  While the 2nd page, I entered into the Colorful Creations' Guest Designer Sketch Series Challenge.  This week, the Guest Designer is Cabbie Lopez, also a Pinay scrapbooker.  Here are my layouts:

TITLE:  Gondola at McKinley Hill, Bonifacio Global City, PHILIPPINES

SUPPLIES:  Assorted Fabric Flowers: All About Scrapbooking, Chipboard letter G: All About Scrapbooking, Foam Letter Stickers: All About Scrapbooking, Flag: Nikki Sivils Scrapbooker, Journaling tag & Sub-title tag: Nikki Sivils Scrapbooker,  Other: Paper & Brads - gifts courtesy of Janice Lane Sorgea, Brown Art Paper, yellow & red Specialty Papers.

JOURNALING:  I so wanted to take a gondola ride at Venice and Macau.  Soon you could take one in Manila.

SUB-TITLE:  Venice, PIAZZA (February 6, 2011)

NOTES: The development of the Venice - Piazza at McKinley Hill located at the Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, Philippines with the gondolas will probably take minimum of  5 years.  I'm setting my sights and looking forward to their opening to take my first gondola ride here in Manila whichever comes first - whether their opening or a trip to Venice or Macau . . . Here's hoping and wishing!  Cheers to Megaworld Properties, Inc., the property developer.

DESIGN NOTES:  I find it difficulat to create a layout using a 5x7 photo.  So to challenge myself, I decided to make use of one for this call.

I chose to effectively cluster an assortment of flowers - handmade and store-bought of varying sizes and materials.  I would have opted to make use solely of handmade or personally crafted flower embellishments but these wouldn't complement each other and would render the page monotonous.  Thus on the page you'll find 3 big red and yellow flowers personally handcrafted which are called Lollipop Flowers.  The edges of these flowers were distressed and inked. Upon finding a strategic position for these 3 big ones, I clustered 2 kinds of fabric flowers near the big ones bordering the 5x7 photo.

On the other bottom side, I adhered another variety of fabric flowers which frames the journaling tag to contrast the predominantly brown layout and tag.  The Philippine flag I had difficulty positioning and after a few try-outs found an apt place on the top right corner of the page by the Lollipop flower.  I made sure the focus is on the photo with the grouping of embellishments, followed by the title, then the sub-title and the journaling.

TITLE:  The Venice Piazza

SUPPLIES:  Paper: DCWV (for the Metallic Pink background Paper) & Sandylion Sticker Designs (for the Confetti & Daisies Pattern Paper) courtesy of Brenshevia Baker (Oct 2010 Colorful Creations Tackle Me Tuesday winnings), Foam Letter Stickers:  All About Scrapbooking, Parchment Multi-purpose Boards (pink): by Delta Pacific Sales, Inc., Typing Correction Fluid: Touch and Go by Eberhard Faber, Inc.,  TOOLS: Embosser:  Japan Home, Inc., One Hole Punch: KW-trio, Border Puncher courtesy of Brenshevia Baker (Oct 2010 Colorful Creations Tackle Me Tuesday winnings)

JOURNALING:  Kung Hei Fat Choi – 2011 Year of the Metallic Rabbit!! McKinley Hill, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, PHILIPPINES (2-6-2011)

DESIGN NOTES:  The sketch alongside is the inspiration for my layout from the CC Guest Designer Sketch Challenge.

I made use of the distressing technique by using correction fluid on the edges of the inner pattern paper and the sides of the photos.  I decided to create a multi-photo layout to showcase what Venice Piazza has to offer with more major developments coming soon.  I highlighted the right side and bottom of the cluster of photos by matting them with border punched parchment boards.  The bottom were teddy bears - embossed and outlined.  While on the left side one hole – punched with journaling written near the photos’ side.  I dabbled on varying shades of pink in this layout from the background paper of Metallic Pink, the pattern paper with coordinating colors of pink-white-and-brown, to the edge photo matting of pink parchment.  While, the white contrast applied from the lettering to the distressing highlighted the major areas of the layout.

Valentine's Day LOs for Colorful Creations Challenges & for the Party at PAPER ISSUES

The 1st LO or Valentine's Day page I created was for an Inspired By Challenge at Colorful Creations.  The 2nd LO or page was in answer to "Whose Your Valentine?" Challenge also in Colorful Creations.    I'm also entering these 2 pages to the Valentine's Day Party at PAPER ISSUES, shown below:

TITLE:  HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY & HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!

SUPPLIES: Be Loved “Beautiful Branches” Paper:  My Mind’s Eye Paper Kit courtesy of Brenda Ragsdale, Flower: Jolee’s Boutique courtesy of Brenda Ragsdale, Glitter Glue: Leeho, Others: Red & Gold Ribbons

JOURNALING: 2010 Year of the Tiger
Here’s greeting everyone a Happy Valentine’s Day and “Kung Hei Fat Choi” on the Lunar Year.
Wearing a black printed cheongsam to celebrate the 2 occasions at Josephine’s, Tagaytay. February 14, 2010.

DESIGN NOTES:  For the page above, I've made use of improvised scalloped circle cut in half out of plain specialty paper.  I've made a template out of cardboard by tracing a die cut onto it.  It's a nice way to economize.  I merely outlined the scallops' edges with gold for a fabulous effect and reinforced the design with red and gold ribbons across.

SUPPLIES:  Smitten Stripes Cardstock Paper, Journaling tag, Heart & Adore Embellishment: My Mind’s Eye Be Loved Paper Kit, Glitter Glue: Leeho, Others: gold ribbons, red specialty paper

JOURNALING: My Valentine – My Family.  “Families are Forever”. Josephine’s, Tagaytay, Valentine’s Day & Kung Hei Fat Choi.  Feb. 14, 2010 {year of the tiger}.

DESIGN NOTES:  Again for the page above, I've made use of improvised scalloped square cut in half out of plain specialty paper.  I've made a template out of cardboard by tracing a BoBunny paper onto it.  It's a nice way to economize on paper and die cuts.  I merely outlined the scallops' edges with gold for a fabulous effect and reinforced the design with gold ribbons on one side for a glittering total look.

I hope you guys liked my 2 Valentine's Day works of art.  Have a nice day, y'all!  =)

Valentine's Day Card for PAPER ISSUES' Party & Colorful Creations

As promised, I created another card for the Valentine's Day Party at PAPER ISSUES and for a challenge at Colorful Creations.

Notes:  All materials are scraps except for the sentiment.  I just trimmed the papers a bit and hid those showing proof that they're left-overs from previous cut-outs.  A card at the least cost, don't you say?
Supplies:  Cardstock: Delta Pacific Sales, Inc., Specialty Papers: Star Paper Corporation, National Bookstore & Crown Supply Corporation, Flowers: All About Scrapbooking, Sentiment: Nikki Sivils Scrapbooker – Sugar Cookie Line courtesy of Janis Medina-Maghinay.
