"Passion For Life" Gate Fold Card for CropStop

It's the last challenge for the month of October at CropStop.  This week's Challenge #43 is to "Make a Card Using a Unique Fold".

For this challenge, I decided to create a Gate Fold Card with (2) selected sticker quotes inside the card.  A Heart Songs Inspirations' digi image which was paper pieced is the main focus of the card.  With this card, I re-created a french window with a view opening to a room with flowers in a pitcher standing on a table near the said window. . . It's a view from a person looking in from outside.

The 1st sticker quote reads:  "It's a fabulous day for believing in all of your dreams coming true, It's a wonderful day for reflecting on how great it is to be you."  Another sticker quote reads:  "It's a wonderful day!  Feel it, smell it, taste it, hear it, breathe it, wear it, dance it, sing it. . . Just do what makes you happy!".  The card finishes off with a stiquote title: "Passion for Life".

SUPPLIES: Cardstock: Papermania, Paper: Star Paper Corp., Stiquote: All About Scrapbooking (Hallmark, Inc.), Digi Image: Heart Songs Inspiration, Other: Art Paper, Pattern Paper, TOOLS: Craft Knife: Tim Holtz, Punch: Martha Stewart.

Weeks 5-7 of Colorful Creations' Last Man Standing - So You Think You Can Scrap

Sadly, I would like to share the news that I've been eliminated from the Colorful Creations' "So You Think You Can Scrap" or formerly "Last Man Standing" Competition.  I went overboard with their week 7 challenge requirements and thus I'm now officially out of the running.

I guess the 7 continuous weeks of scrapping with them wasn't that bad.  But I was actually counting on staying on until the months of November to December.  I guess I was too zealous with last week's challenge.

Anyway, that was it for me!  I just have to learn to accept my elimination. {sigh}  The same goes with the other fellow scrappers who got eliminated with me.

Let me now share with you my submitted creations for October's Week 5 - 7 challenges:

5th Week
Create a layout with something you fear/phobia.
Use 3 or more Halloween themed pattern papers.
Journaling must be 25 words.
A photo of yourself or your fear/phobia.

6th Week
Create a 12x12 Calendar Inspired Scrapbook layout.
Your LO must showcase 7 days within 1 month
(choose from June, July, August, September)

7th Week
Create a layout of 100 items.
Composed of 10 different items with 10 items each.
Making it a total of 100 items all in all
(This is where I got eliminated for coming up with a total of 102 items.)

I guess, I'll be taking a rest from scrapping until the end of the year. . . with fewer demands for me to scrap having almost complied with all my DT duties for my current term and with this competition now out of the way.  But who knows what will come my way towards the end of the last quarter of 2011.

Probably  . . . be looking for an extended term with my current commitments or new beginnings with other teams or just have Rest and Recreation waiting for what the Christmas Season may bring with family and friends in tow.  I just can't wait!!

"Gimme Candy" LO for Kaboodle Doodles Challenge #90: Halloween or Harvest

Kaboodle Doodles Challenge #90 is "Halloween or Harvest".  You could submit any project as long as it fits the challenge theme.  Winner to be drawn randomly with sponsor prize of $10 voucher to Just Some Lines Tues, Nov. 1, 2011 at US timezone.  Participants have until Sun., Oct. 30, 2011 to link their entries at the Kaboodle Doodles Challenge Blog.

Here's my 6x12 Halloween LO:
It's my little niece's 2nd Halloween in a different country where they are now settling as a family.  She's dressed up as a pumpkin just for the event.  She had some scary photos but she was brave enough to go through with it and continue going even in the evening.  I guess she must have appreciated all the decors and costumes.  And had come to appreciate them unlike scared little me. lol

Drop by Kaboodle Doodles Challenge Blog for more inspiration.

Enjoy the Halloween!!  Me?  I think I'll continue staying away from any halloween funfare.  Thanks, but that's just me.  I could only create a Halloween LO that's the best that I can do with the occasion.  Here's me saying trick or treat!!  Maybe I'd be lucky to win a challenge with this LO . . . that's me asking for treats . . . hehehe.  Tah!

"Whooo Wants Candy?" LO for CropStop

I've never got to enjoy Halloween. .  . maybe becoz it's not celebrated in our community though it's getting popular among other areas of Manila but still we opt not to participate.  We're merely contented on looking at fantastic displays or decorations for the Halloween at malls and selected areas that do participate on the event.

Thus, it's quite difficult for me to turn in a Halloween creation for the challenge at CropStop.  This week's Challenge #42 is "Halloween".  I had to rely on the photos shared by a relative who had migrated to another country that do celebrate the occasion.  I chose the petite photos of my cousin's little daughter on her 1st Halloween in another country. . .

SUPPLIES: Paper: Bo Bunny, Star Paper Corp., Dew Drops: Robin’s Nest, Sticker: Bo Bunny, TOOLS: Paper Shapers: Provo Craft.

CROPSTOP SUPPLIES:  Sunkissed Tear Drops & Mounting Squares
DESIGN NOTES:  I made use of 6x12 paper for my LO, layered papers underneath my photo & mimicked weaving with my purple art papers underneath the photo also.  The dew drops called "Sunkissed Tear Drops" were added as finishing touches to the LO.

Faux Eyelet Tutorial

If you’re like me who still ogle at a fellow scrapper with a Crop-A-Dile or who wouldn’t want to bother with hammering to add an eyelet to your project, you may want to try making use of faux eyelets. They’re easier & less expensive to make. You can still continue creating wonderful projects while saving up for those covetable wonder tools. You just need your trusty Craft Pick to get the show on the road. Below is a brief tutorial:
Image

Materials Needed:

Craft Pick
Marker - Black Pen or White Paint Pen (You can also make use of wonderful colored gel pens)
Craft Mat

Image

Instructions:

1. Using White Paint Pen:

a. Prepare your materials (your craft mat, white paint pen & craft pick)

b. Place your cardstock on your craft mat with your craft pick. I chose plain red cardstock for this tutorial. (You can use any colored cardstock. I’d suggest you make use of plain, solid-colored cardstock & not pattern paper. This would make your faux eyelet more visible.)

Image

c. Pierce your cardstock on the corner – make sure that it’s not so near the corner edge to allot space for your white paint marker. (You have to gauge how big you want the diameter of the tip of your craft pick to go through your cardstock. It depends upon how big or how small you want your pierced hole to be.)

Image

d. After piercing the corner of your cardstock, draw around the pierced hole with your white paint marker. (Make sure that it is a perfect circle or the closest you can get to a perfect circle with your paint marker.)

Image

e. If the pierced hole seems to close at a glance, pierce it again with your craft pick. This is the closest you can get to an eyelet.

Image

2. Using Black Marker:

a. Prepare your materials (your craft mat, black marker & craft pick)

b. Place your cardstock on your craft mat with your craft pick. I chose light plain cardstock with the digital image already printed on the center for a card I previously created. (I chose light colored cardstock since I plan to make use of my black marker for the faux eyelet.)

Image

c. Pierce your cardstock on the corner. Careful not to pierce near the corner edge. I wanted a bigger hole so I pushed my craft pick till the end.

Image

d. After piercing, draw around the pierced hole with your black marker – as close to a perfect circle as can be.

Image

e. Finished with (1) corner, repeat the procedure to the other (3) corners until the (4) corners of your cardstock has faux eyelets.

"Shanghai Memorial Monument" LO for Kaboodle Doodles Challenge #89: Inchies or Squares

Kaboodle Doodles Challenge #89 is "Inchies or Squares on Your Creations - any which way you'd want it!".  You could submit any project as long as it fits the challenge theme.  Winner to be drawn randomly with sponsor prize of 2 images from Heart Songs Designs Tues, Oct. 25, 2011 at US timezone.  Participants have until Sun., Oct. 23, 2011 to link their entries at the Kaboodle Doodles Challenge Blog.

I was stumped as to how to put this photo in an LO.  But with this challenge, I finally found the inspiration for it.  I found the paper August of this year and together with the challenge, the layout was a done deal.

This was the last travel I had with the family abroad.  And I'm hoping for another one this year.  It's been 5 years (i think) and I've been dreaming of another enjoyable moment away from everything (except for my scrapbooking hobby lol).  Praying and hoping soon . . .

Below is my LO:
Title:  SHANGHAI MEMORIAL MONUMENT
SUPPLIES:  Paper: All About Scrapbooking, Metallic Butterflies: All About Scrapbooking, Journaling Pen: Parker, Digi Image: Heart Songs Designs' "Simple Tulip" & "Vintage Blooms", Sketch: Kim Holmes of Imaginisce, Other: Textured Cardstock.

"Bangkok" LO for Kaboodle Doodles Challenge #88: Leaves

Kaboodle Doodles Challenge #88 is "Leaves (one or too many)".  You could submit any project as long as it fits the challenge theme.  Winner to be drawn randomly with sponsor prize of 4 images from Meljens Designs Tues, Oct. 18, 2011 at US timezone.  Participants have until Sun., Oct. 16, 2011 to link their entries at the Kaboodle Doodles Challenge Blog.

I decided to go with a "Falling Autumn Leaves" as motif of my LO.  And I have just (2) family photos left of a number of years' past trip to Bangkok.  I don't know if it's the right photo to use on my chosen paper but I guess I still went with my original idea or concept.  So, please find my LO below and let me know what you think:

I made use of Meljen's Designs "Triple Cupcake Treat" as my digi image embellie.  It's to remind me of the fabulous breakfast buffet we had in our hotel throughout the duration of our stay there in Thailand.  The buffet was scrumptuous and I could still remember to this day their selection of cupcakes for dessert which we happily indulged in. . . thus, the use of the said digi image on my LO.

Drop by Kaboodle Doodles Challenge Blog for more inspiration from the DTs.  And don't be shy on joining in on our challenge.  A Happy Treat to my fellow scrappers!
