WORLD CARD MAKING DAY...

World Card Making Day began in 2006 as National Card Making Day. Founded by Paper Crafts magazine to bring card makers together at the beginning of the busiest card-making season of the year, it was first held on October 7, 2006. The initial celebration involved the Paper Crafts magazine audience only; however, due to the positive response it received and the worldwide popularity of card making, the holiday became known as World Card Making Day from then on.

Celebrating its fifth year in 2010, World Card Making Day is celebrated annually on the first Saturday in October. It's a day for the card-making community -- hobbyists, retailers, and manufacturers -- to unite and celebrate the connection and creativity that is the heart of card making.

'Together' LO for Kaboodle Doodles Challenge #86: The Pretty Doily

Kaboodle Doodles Challenge #86 is "The Pretty Doily".  You could submit any project as long as it fits the challenge theme.  Winner to be drawn randomly with sponsor prize of 3 images from Phooka Tues, Oct. 4, 2011 at US timezone.  Participants have until Sun., Oct. 2, 2011 to link their entries at the Kaboodle Doodles Challenge Blog.

I was always facinated with scrap-pages incorporating a doily or two. . . may it be plain or dyed.  I was afraid I may not be able to create a layout as beautiful as those I've seen.  With this week's Kaboodle's challenge, I was given a chance to create with this pretty item.  Afraid as I was, I was ready to take it on.  Finding a doily with a coffee drink on an after-dinner aperitif we had, I took home this precious doily with a hope to utilize it in the future.  And true enough, here I am with a scrap-page to show to everyone.  I have to admit, though, that the outcome wasn't what I had so much expected.  But I guess not bad for a start. . .  would you agree with me?  Below is my creation:

SUPPLIES:  Paper: Daisy D’s, Chipboard Alphas: American Craft,  Flower: All About Scrapbooking, Buttons: All About Scrapbooking, Digi Image: Phooka’s ‘Cute Fox’, ‘Giraffe’ & ‘Little Lamb’, Ribbon: Hallmark, Other: Doily.

NOTE: THIS IS A SCHEDULED POST.  I MAY HAVE A PREVIOUS POST WITH ANOTHER DOILY LAYOUT BUT THIS IS THE Layout that came out 1st from my crafting table.  Sorry friends, I can't share the photo of my layout for it's out on publication.  Will share them by Oct. 19, 2011. . . Please be patient with me.

Drop by Kaboodle Doodles Challenge Blog for more inspiration from the DTs.

SNR (Sept issue) Part 1 is out . . .

I'm back again with published works at SNR after a 3-month hiatus from them. . . Yay!

I have 4 work published with this September issue of SNR (Part 1).  They are 2 LOs and 2 cards.  (2) of them are works created as DT for Kaboodle Doodles, (1) is a card created as Creative Team member of CropStop, & last the card was already previously featured at Nikki Sivils and at Rochelle Bien's "Let's Make Greeting Cards" site.

But don't worry, I had them all taken down from blogs and online galleries for 30 days.  Will share my pubbed creations with you again soon!

Thanks, SNR!!

"Little Ballerina" LO for Kaboodle Doodles Challenge #85: Lots of Layers

I personally like the lay-out I was able to create for this challenge.  It's very close to my heart.  First, it's because the photo utilized is the one with my deceased grandfather whom I seldom see when he was still alive.  I couldn't remember my sentiments when the photo was taken but I must have been proud posing in my ballet attire with him.  Second, it's the only photo taken of me with my ballet outfit.  I never really thought of taking ballet to be one great ballerina and I never did become one nor progressed more than just the Grade 1 class in Ballet.  I wonder if I really took the heart to become a good dancer . . . albeit a little ballerina at a young age.  But I'm surely glad that I took the classes, now that I'm much older.  How I wish I had a photo doing a recital as I can't even remember being on one.  Gosh!  Such a far off time to remember. :(

Other than the above, I love the colors I was able to use on my layout . . . achieving my 1st monochromatic lay-out with such softness that I could muster and visualize making.  I think this is one of my fave LOs.

Kaboodle Doodles Challenge #85 is "Lots of Layers".  You could submit any project as long as it fits the challenge theme.  Winner to be drawn randomly with sponsor prize of 3 images from The Stamping Boutique Tues, Sep. 27, 2011 at US timezone.  Participants have until Sun., Sept. 25, 2011 to link their entries at the Kaboodle Doodles Challenge Blog.
