Member Challenge the DTs of Colorful Creations Challenge

Hi, everyone!  I've taken a break for the past month from joining much challenges at Colorful Creations.  To make-up, I've joined a challenge wherein we members host a challenge for the Design Team to participate and work on for the whole month of September 2011.  The challenge is named by the CC's DTs as "Member Challenge US"

Without further ado, my challenge goes like this:

"Hen Night" Card for CropStop

Anyone familiar with what a "Hen Night" is?  I hail from an Asian tropical country, thus, I'm not familiar with the term.  My research from ArticlesBase came up with this description / definition:

"Hen nights are a common theme party for many women. There are many to be married women who get a hen night party from their friends and associates. A hen night is the female version of the stag night for men and is completely restricted to women.

The term hen night is most popular in countries like the United Kingdom, Ireland and Australia although the concept is popular all over the world. In the United States, hen nights are more commonly known as bachelorette parties. The term stagette is more popular in Canada. In some other English speaking countries, the terms girls’ night out and kitchen tea is used for describing hen nights.

Hen nights make one of the best surprise parties for women who are about to get married. Unlike the bachelor parties that most often end up in drinking sessions and orgies, the hen nights are seen more as an occasion to build female bonding. The organizers are typically one or more of the women who have been invited to the wedding ceremony and they decide what to do on the hen night that they have chosen for the bride."

I guess we Filipinos, have these all along.  It's what we call "Shower Party" or "Despedida de Soltera"

"Strawberry Easel Card" for Kaboodle Doodles with Challenge #82: Easel Does It! (8th DT Work)

It's my 1st time to create an Easel Card.  I have to confess I've previously shied away from creating cards.  I firmly believe that I'm more of a scrapper than a cardmaker.  This would explain why I was hesitant to do this challenge requirement with Kaboodle Doodles.  Now what did I do?  I'll let you in my secret . . . I psyched myself up and took the plunge!!  . . . or should I say I took an adventure with this challenge.  I told myself I want to be versatile and discover new things. lol

So, Kaboodle Doodles Challenge #82 is Easel Does It!.  Winner to be drawn randomly with sponsor prize of 2 images from The Crafty Pad Tues, Sep. 6, 2011 at US timezone.  Participants have until Sun., Sept. 4, 2011 to link their entries at the Kaboodle Doodles Challenge Blog.

Now to show you my 1st foray into making the said card. . . I call it simply my "Strawberry Easel Card":

SUPPLIES:  Cardstock: Star Paper Corp., Pattern Paper: Cosmo Cricket “Garden Variety” Collection, Multi-Purpose Paper: National Bookstore, Digi Image: The Crafty Pad “Berry Sweet Strawberries in Frame”, Pen: Parker, Paint Marker: Zig’s Painty, Glitter Glue: Leeho, TOOLS: Paper Shapers: Provo Craft, Craft Pick: Tim Holtz.

DESIGN NOTES:  I paper pieced the digi image and used decoupage (hope I got the right term) for dimension.  I utilized faux stitching & I also made use of faux eyelets - a new technique which I learned just recently this July 2011.  I hope that's not too much faux in use. lol  For a touch of sparkle, I added glitter on the strawberry leaves.  I just love that strawberry look, don't you?

By the time this post goes live (since this is a scheduled post), the new technique I learned would no longer be new.  But still I'm happy to let you know of the new cardmaking breakthroughs I made. {wink, wink}  It's an effort for me . .  {sigh}

Anyway, do drop by Kaboodle Doodles Challenge Blog to view my fellow DT mates' creations . . . & do join us in the challenge fun!  See yah, there!!
