"One Month Old" LO for Sketches4All (my 3rd DT stint . . woohoo!)

Hi, everyone!

Would like to share and invite you to my 1st hosted challenge at Sketches4All.  I've been recently been accepted as their Design Team Member together with15 other lady crafters.  My 3-mo. term started August 16, 2011.  This is my 3rd DT stint aside from Kaboodle Doodles & CropStop.  Sketches4All offers LO, tags, ATCs, card and sketch challenges.

For my 1st Challenge:  Sept 2011 Handle With Care Challenge 1, I'm hosting a thematic challenge that ranges from baby pages, love/romance pages, special loved ones pages, etc. 

Requirements:

1. Must follow the Handle with Care theme, specifying which category your creation would fall.  Maybe a brief background of your page would help.  
2.  Must have (1) predominant shape on your creation.
3. Must have any kind of stitching – faux or real

Rules:

1. Must be a new creation as of the start date of this challenge.
2. You can submit as many creations as you so wish at Sketches4All.
3. This can be combined with any challenge you so choose inside or outside of Sketches4All.
4. If your LO is inspired by a sketch, please upload the said sketch together with your creation at my group's challenge discussion thread.  We would also like to be inspired by your LO with the sketch used.  You may opt to use Fia’s sketch at the Get Sketchy Group Section or the inspiration sketch I utilized for my sample LO.
5. Upload your LO in Sketches4All gallery with a tag: Kath’sHandleWithCare1
6. Challenge opens Aug. 22, 2011 and ends Sept. 30, 2011 (at US timezone EST) though I’m from a different or advanced timezone (Manila, Philippines) 

Winner will be drawn at the end of September 2011.  A small RAK will be provided to the winner.

"Crisostomo" LO for Kaboodle Doodles with Challenge #81 - Ribbons (7th DT Work)

Kaboodle Doodles Challenge #81 is Ribbons!.  Winner to be drawn randomly with sponsor prize of 3 images from Karber Digital on Tues, Aug. 30, 2011 at US timezone.  Participants have until Sun., Aug. 28, 2011 to link their entries at the Kaboodle Doodles Challenge Blog.

A ribbons challenge should be easy peasy, right?  But I guess I ran out of beautiful ideas for an LO to make.  I wasn't in the mood for a card with ribbons.  And so, I took to creating a simple and practical LO . . . I told myself why not splatter ribbons all over.  Nope, not bows but the ribbons themselves all in bright and shocking colors to me.  I set them against black with a set of 2 photos in mind plus Karber's digi image . . . . viola!  I now have an LO, though not ribbon after ribbon in layers as I originally conceptualized . . . just enough ribbons with in-between spaces for the viewer to be able to breathe-in the sparklingly bright colors. . .  I'd say simpicity and yet an attention-calling LO:

 

What do you think?  I just finished it off with a prima flower with All About Scrapbooking's chipboard swirls on both sides.  Now, does it merit the adjective . . . a bit of elegance?  errr . . . don't know . . . probably not. lol {wink, wink}

"A Bag" (6th DT Work) for Kaboodle Doodles' Challenge #80: Bag It! or Tag It!

Kaboodle Doodles Challenge #80 is Bag It! or Tag It!.  Winner to be drawn randomly with sponsor prize of $10 voucher from Kenny K on Tues, Aug. 23, 2011 at US timezone.  Participants have until Sun., Aug. 21, 2011 to link their entries at the Kaboodle Doodles Challenge Blog.

I took the easier route and went with making a PAPER BAG.  I'm at a loss with creating tags and would normally turn out simple ones.  With the bag, my thoughts went to delicious treats or pretty keepsakes to be lodged within a similarly pretty bag.  And so, I commenced on finding resources and creating (1) dainty looking bag. I utilized and paper pieced Kenny K's "Game Show Gals" digi image.  Here's what I got to show for it:

Hi, everyone!  It's with great joy that I'm sharing with you a Card I made for Cupcake Inspirations (CI).  I was chosen to join the team for their Challenge #123 as their "Guest Sweetie" for the week.

I always marvel at the various cupcake photo inspirations that they post on their challenge blog on a weekly basis every Sundays.  I couldn't believe that there could be that many cupcakes carefully designed and decored for us to feast our eyes with, albeit taste. . . . and to utilize as crafting inspiration for us crafters.  I wonder how CI manage to get photos of these fabulous cupcakes.  What an arsenal of inspiration from Cupcake Inspirations, isn't it?

I'm sharing with you a double-page LO I created of my trip with my friend to Angkor Wat and Saigon. . .

"Buon Giorno" (5th DT Work) LO for Kaboodle Doodles Challenge #79: Primary Colors

Scrapping with various printed pattern papers, I suddenly felt at a loss when I saw this week's challenge requirement.  It's a good thing that my winnings from previous month's challenge has arrived.  Chosen items from my winnings were primarily Christmas papers & Baby Girl-themed papers . . . though with a mix of other miscellaneous papers.  This is where I got to use one of the miscellaneous papers from Robin's Nest.  So, on to the challenge!!

Kaboodle Doodles Challenge #79 is to Make Use of Primary Colors.  Winner to be drawn randomly with sponsor prize of 4 images from Meljens Designs on Tues, Aug. 16, 2011 at US timezone.  Participants have until Sun., Aug. 14, 2011 to link their entries at the Kaboodle Doodles Challenge Blog.   Below is my submitted DT work:

DESIGN NOTES: The challenge being the use of primary colors . . . I made a quick research and found out that these are composed of 3 colors: red, blue & green for a painter's perspective.  For color printing, the primary colors are: red, blue & yellow.  So, I decided to combine the 2 perspective and came out with 4 primary colors to play with: red, blue, yellow & green.

Inspiration Sketch by Rochelle Spears of Colorful Creations

I started with an inspiration sketch by Rochelle Spears at Colorful Creations and modified it to suit my photos' and paper dimensions.  Though what I had were 4 big photos instead of lots of smaller ones, I decided to fit it all in leaving out many of the sketch elements, thus, making it my own.  I matted my photos as one big photo and adhered it on Robin's Nest - Jean paper.  I then bordered it with bright red ribbons pleated on both sides meeting at the center.  I had my title on top and the 3 stamped sentiments in bright yellow to call attention together with the digital flourishes.  As finishing touches, I chose Meljen's Lazy Susan Buggies (flowers) Image placed at the center of the layout.  This image was printed in cream cardstock  . . . bordered in black ink . . . triple matted in blue scalloped paper, red and green papers.

Viola!  A simple but a calling attention LO. . . Though simple it took some time to finish the ribbon pleating together with the  . . . ouch . . . ouch. . .  accidental applying of hot glue on my fingers . . . ouch . . . should not be in a hurry doing that!! lol  But I was satisfied with the outcome. Just love the ribbon pleating technique.  The base paper is new & the swirls are old images. =)
