"Angel" & "One Week Old" LOs for Kaboodle Doodles Challenge #99: Angels/Fairies

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!

Kaboodle Doodles Challenge #99 is "Angels or Fairies".  You could submit any project as long as it fits the challenge theme.  Winner to be drawn randomly with sponsor prize of 2 images from Jellypark Tues, Jan. 3, 2012 at US timezone.  Participants have until Sun., Jan. 1, 2012 to link their entries at the Kaboodle Doodles Challenge Blog.

Some that I know of when we were kids used to wonder why the New Year is depicted by a baby.  I guess by now as we've aged and grew older, we now know why a graphic image of a baby symbolizes the New Year.  Thus, for this week's challenge which will end on New Year's Day, I decided to scrap a photo of me when I was still a baby, to be precise when I was one week old.  I guess not old enough to be able to walk about yet.  The other LO was scrapped to comply with the 1st challenge choice requirement which is an angel for the Christmas school programme.

"Oh Christmas Tree" LO for Kaboodle Doodles Challenge #98

Merry Christmas!!!

Kaboodle Doodles Challenge #98 is "Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree".  You could submit any project as long as it fits the challenge theme.  Winner to be drawn randomly with sponsor prize of 5 images from Di's Digis Tues, Dec. 27, 2011 at US timezone.  Participants have until Sun., Dec. 25, 2011 to link their entries at the Kaboodle Doodles Challenge Blog.

I could still remember how as a kid, my sister and I would always yearn for a huge Christmas tree inside our house every Christmas.  In those time, what we had was a small pine cone made Christmas tree bought from the Summer Capital of the Philippines - Baguio.
As the years went by we were blessed to procure a modern huge Christmas tree and it has served us to this day.  My sister and I fantasized for a "White Christmas" as could be seen in US movies.  Thus, not to let my young sis down, my mother and I went to utilizing cotton as mock "snow" which we gamely used to cover parts of our Christmas tree's branches and leaves.  On that year, we didn't let up taking family photos in front of our snow covered-like Christmas tree.  This has inspired me to choose this week's Kaboodle Doodles challenge.  With that, I've chosen (2) family photos taken on different days on that year to put on an LO:

"Dec. 25th Christmas Invitation Card" for CropStop

This 3rd week of December we have CropStop's Challenge #50: Create a Christmas Card with Non-traditional Christmas colors.

I really didn't know how to start off my card for this challenge.  The ball started rolling when I found an ice skater digi image from my files (can't remember from which shop or company).  It's been one of those freebies that I randomly saved from one of the sites I found last year.  I had this image paper pieced with silver glitter glue as accents. Then I searched for Christmas papers thinking that I could have it as background paper but instead I found some left over Nikki Sivils Christmas cut-outs which were from previous year's collection.  Thus, I decided to make use of plain non-traditional colored cardstock for card and base paper - gray and blue.  Luckily my embossing folders arrived and had made up my mind on testing them.  Thus the embossed blue background paper inside and at front of my card.  I just dabbed the tube of my white acrylic paint on the embossed dots to look like snow.  Doesn't it look great?

Anyway, I executed what I had in mind and finished off the front with a pink ribbon and bow with silver trimmings created courtesy of Bow Easy.  The card's inside is further decorated with the same pink ribbon, Nikki Sivils holly cut-out on top, and finished off with stitched gray hearts with the help of a SewEasy Piercer set against pink cardstock and then fussy cut.

My created card:

"The Hernandezes" LO for Kaboodle Doodles Challenge #97: Get-Together for the Holidays

Kaboodle Doodles Challenge #97 is "Let's Get Together for the Holidays".  You could submit any project as long as it fits the challenge theme.  Winner to be drawn randomly with sponsor prize of 4 images from Meljens Designs Tues, Dec. 20, 2011 at US timezone.  Participants have until Sun., Dec. 18, 2011 to link their entries at the Kaboodle Doodles Challenge Blog.

It's seldom that our family get to attend get-togethers by the Hernandezes.  Thus, it was a pleasant surprise that on the 1st year in our new home, the Hernandezes coverge / got together for the holidays at our home.  It was all by chance with a lot of milestone occassions happening on that said faithful year on the month of Christmas.  We know that it's doubly hard to round up everyone in the extended family since most of my cousins have migrated to the Western country.  I guess this layout contains a precious photo that just had to be scrapped as remembrance of the said occasion which I think won't ever happen again.  Some would say who knows?

SUPPLIES:  Papers: Robin’s Nest, Star Paper Corp., Digi Image: Meljen’s Designs’ “Berry Happy”, TOOLS: Letratag: Dymo.

"Christmas Wish" Card & "Peace on Earth & Goodwill to All" LO for Kaboodle Doodles Challenge #96: "Christmas Colors"

Kaboodle Doodles Challenge #96 is "Christmas Colors".  You could submit any project as long as it fits the challenge theme.  Winner to be drawn randomly with sponsor prize from Cat's Meow Tues, Dec. 13, 2011 at US timezone.  Participants have until Sun., Dec. 11, 2011 to link their entries at the Kaboodle Doodles Challenge Blog.

I just love Christmas colors!!  Thus for this challenge, I came up with (2) creations: a card and an LO.  I tied the requirements up with Sketches4All's Get Sketchy Card Sketch Challenge and Get Sketchy LO Sketch Challenge with using scraps as additional requirement.

When I finished the card, a story came up in mind. . . . Wouldn't it be romantic if a suitor or your boyfriend would have Christmas dinner with you on Christmas Eve and would suddenly pop up the question:  "Would you like us to be together?" OR "Would you marry me?"  ending with "All I want for Christmas is you!"  which is exactly the sentiment on the center of my card.  Hmmmm!  Still thinking if it's a totally romantic idea. . .  what say you?

I rotated the sketch by 90 degrees counterclockwise.  Please find my Christmas colored card below:

SUPPLIES:  Paper: Creative Imaginations, Star Paper Corp., Sentiment Cut-outs: Nikki Sivils, Other: Ribbon, Sketch: PageMaps.

For the LO I created,  I was so amazed at how the photo developing center worked out it's magic to print and enhance a slightly dim Christmas family photo making it look all a glow.  I had it supersized.

SUPPLIES: Pattern Paper: Creative Imaginations, Foam Letter Stickers: All About Scrapbooking (Hallmark, Inc.),  Flowers: Prima, Dec 24th Cut-out: Nikki Sivils, Journaling Tab: Creative Imaginations, Other: Sheer Ribbon, Sketch: Jana Eubank, TOOLS: Bow Easy
