2 LOs featured in Nikki Sivils Scrapbooker Blog

I'm so thrilled to learn that my (2) submitted layouts were approved and are now featured at Nikki Sivils Scrapbooker's Blog:  Showcase on You!  Here's a brief background of the (2) featured layouts:

1.  Title: "Bibang" - created using Nikki's Bella Blue and Oscar Too Line with "Who's Collar?" paper.

This was initially created for a "Press Your Luck" Game Challenge at Colorful Creations using an Inspired Blueprints Sketch last April 2011.  The challenge calls for a layout with an animal as a subject.  And so, I chose my former pet cat whom we so love as subject of my page.

This layout was previously chosen as Gallery Pick of the Week also at Colorful Creations.  And I'm so glad now that it has been approved and chosen to be showcased on Nikki's Blog.

2.  Title:  "Spring Back to Manila" - created using Nikki's Bella Blue and Oscar Too Line with "Bella's Flowers" paper.

This was initially created for Karen Patterson's Potpourri Challenge also at Colorful Creations last April 2011.  The challenge was to create a spring layout with the word "SPRING" in the title plus incorporate 2 of the following elements:  birds, butterflies and flowers.  I had my meeting with my bestie who have already migrated to another country and just happen to visit as the topic to depict on my page layout.  I'm glad to have joined Karen's challenge and have now landed a featured spot on Nikki's Blog.  I'm sure my bestie would also be glad.  Other "Let's Get Scrappy!" posts on this layout here.

You could also share your created projects and LOs with Nikki Sivils materials.  Just drop by their blog.  Please find link above. {wink, wink}

Ranked Top 3 in Creative Cowgirls Challenge

I was so surprised to learn that I won or was ranked Top 3 in a Creative Cowgirls'  Mother's Day / Easter / Spring Challenge which started last April 24, 2011.  I was no longer expecting with the numerous beautiful and wonderful entries submitted on the said challenge.

I was merely browsing crafting websites for challenges to enter and little did I know that I won.  It was the 1st post of the day on their website.  And there's no way I couldn't have noticed it if I didn't drop by their site.  Thanks to Creative Cowgirls for choosing my "Easter Cards" as one of the Top 3 in the lot.

Here I am now sporting their badge here and on my blog's sidebar . . .

Graduation & Mother's Day LOs published in April issue of SNR Magazine

Though surprised at (1) of my LO being published in Scrapbook News & Review April 2011 vol. 4 issue 4, I was glad that 3 of my LOs: 2 for Mother's Day & 1 Graduation theme, made it in this issue.  Though these were previously posted here in prior months, I'm divulging all the details that entailed these 3 pages:

For the Graduation theme:

TITLE: Grade School
SUPPLIES:  Paper: All About Scrapbooking, Others: Various School Supplies, A Writing Theme Notebook’s Sheet in Filipino Language, Grade School Leaf Skeleton, Clipart graphics

DESIGN NOTES:  What great way to depict your grade school years by having a copy of one of your school projects and other memorabilia showcased on your page.  In this case, it’s the leaf skeleton I chose to use an embellishment which is reminiscent of my favorite grade school science school project we had in our last year in grade school.  On top of that, a sample of your school supplies were scattered all over the page e.g.  a page sample of your writing theme notebook in our native dialect to herald the days that you were part of the school’s newspaper team as a news reporter.  Wouldn’t it be fun to look back at those days by looking at this page?

For Mother's Day:

1st LO TITLE: "Ma and Me"

SUPPLIES:  Paper: All About Scrapbooking, Chipboard letters: All About Scrapbooking, Foam letter stickers: All About Scrabooking, Decorative letters: K&Company, Other: Specialty papers

NOTES:  I dedicate this page to my mother on Mother’s Day. The photo was taken last year on an out-of-town trip.  We seldom get a photo taken together making this a fabulous opportunity to devote a page to my mom for all the wonderful times we have together.  And for always being there for me in good times and in bad.  HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY, MOM!!

TITLE: "Ma and I"

SUPPLIES:  Papers, Flowers, Foam Stamps, Distressing Ink Pads, Foil Strips, Word & Quote Stickers: All About Scrapbooking, Sketch: Susan Coish for Colorful Creations, TOOLS: Puncher: Martha Stewart

DESIGN NOTES:  The theme for this Mother’s Day page is Now and Then.  I made use of stamping and distressing techniques on this layout.  The blue background paper, I stamped with flowers and leaves in black and green distressing inks respectively.  I further dabbed brown distressing ink near the edges of the blue background paper to be more apt for the theme of the layout.  I made use of fussy cutting for the bottom right corner of the page which I later on embellished with two-toned butterflies in white and brown colors.  For the photos, I chose two different sized photos: one taken in the 1970s and the other a more recent one.  I double matted these making use of decorative scissors for the inner matt and distressing for the outer matt.  And to call attention to the title and to the details of the paper at the bottom right, I outlined these with gold foil strips.  The journaling so as to be readable, I cut and wrote on the back of the patterned paper which is white in color.  The patterned papers were chosen in dark hues for a nostalgic effect in line with the theme of the page.

SNR May 2011 (Part 1) Issue is Out . . .

The 1st part of Scrapbook News and Review May 2011 (vol. 4, issue 5) is already out . . . debuting May 15, 2011 under US timezone.  I currently have 1 wedding LO and 1 thank you card published in this issue. ;-)

"Pink Rose Buds for You" Card

I have to confess . . . if I were to receive roses, I'd love pink roses.  Though on certain occasion, I prefer yellow (for good cheer), red (for romance) and blue (for very special occasions).  For this card, I can't help but to make use of the pink rose buds embellie as the main focus of the project.  I still made use of "Echo Park" papers.  I prefer to maximize the use of the "Be Mine" pattern paper with a sketch by PageMaps.

Heart (Echo Park) Card

Now, I've never done inchies.  But I guess this is the closest I could get to creating one.  Though not a decorated inchie. . .  just a bunch of one-side shaped inchies used as a card background with the right heart embellie on front.  Let me know what you think with this card - materials of which are mostly of Echo Park "Be Mine" paper and (1) Ling Design Heart.
